motivation and work behavior
Can anyone give me a book reference to explain how low morale affects human behavior?
I am trying to explain to a superior how low morale affects the performance and motivation in a work setting. What I am looking for is book on behavior, psychology, etc. to give me a refernec to point to. Thanks!
I'd recommend -for starters- Abraham Maslow's "Motivation and Personality" as well as his "Maslow on Management."
I believe there's also value in reading Douglas McGregor's "The Human Side of Enterprise."
And finally, almost any of the writings (books and articles) of Chris Argyris.
Please know that your concern and effort are noble -the world needs individuals like you- and I applaud you for reaching out and attempting to enlighten yourself so others (or at least your supervisor) may be enlightened also.
Do not be discouraged -or disillusioned- if your supervisor rejects your efforts outright or minimalizes the potential. You are on the right path ... keep traveling down it.
Good luck!
